Olympic Chiropractic Care

As you all know, chiropractic care makes you feel and function better. Whether you are in pain, or simply looking to maintain your wellness, chiropractic care helps your joints, muscles and nerves function optimally. Luckily, elite athletes also know this, and chiropractic care globally is becoming more mainstream.

This year’s Olympics in Paris, France, marks an exciting year for Chiropractic. Chiropractic care is available in the Olympic Village in the “Polyclinic” during the Olympics and Paralympics this year. This means that chiropractic care is available to ALL athletes, not only teams who have a chiropractor on their staff. Historically, many national teams included chiropractors as part of their medical team, but not all. This year’s Polyclinic allows all athletes to receive the care that they need.

Some of our favourite athletes are famously also chiropractic patients - Usain Bolt, Jamaican sprinting legend and fourteen time Olympic Gold Medalist has stated many times how chiropractic care changed his career. He was diagnosed as a child with a severe scoliosis, and was hindered with back pain throughout his career until he started to receive regular chiropractic care. Interestingly, he also receives care with an Activator, just like you!

Dr. Dominika Jamnicky, recent Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College graduate, Cobourg local, and friend of Dr. Leguard, is on the Canadian Triathlon team. She was an alternate for the Tokyo Olympics, and she’s narrowly missed qualifying for the Olympics this year. Again, her commitment to her studies in chiropractic illustrate how care has helped her in her athletic journey.

In a local context, Port Hope Chiropractor Dr. Alban Merepezza, was spotted treating 2024 Canadian Flag Bearer and sprinter Andre DeGrasse in 2021. They worked together in 2021, and we hope that Dr. Merepezza went to Paris this year to make sure that DeGrasse is in top form.

This shows us again that chiropractic care gets results - and the top athletes around the world agree. We are excited to watch our Canadian athletes (and any athlete who loves chiropractic care as much as we do!) compete this year.
