December 2024 Happy Holidays!
As we come to the end of 2024, we like to reflect on the year past. Here are a few memories and highlights we would like to share with you.
Julie was thrilled to have become a grandma to baby Chelsea, born July 1, 2024.
Myranda was part of both The Wizard of Oz and The Addams Family productions with VOS. She also did Foam Fest with her family and had lots of cottage time.
Carolyn had a great time volunteering at Tim Horton’s for the smile cookie campaign raising funds for Fare Share. She enjoyed seeing her granddaughter Iris grow.
Carleigh loved being able to participate at Foam Fest with her 7 year old son, Roger. Watching him conquer physical obstacles made her very proud.
Karen had a wonderful year celebrating milestone birthdays for herself and with her daughter and granddaughter at a cabin! She is thankful for good health allowing her to ride her horse 3 days a week.
Louise enjoyed being a cast member in both The Wizard of Oz and The Addams Family. She feels thankful to be able to live close to her family so they can be part of each other’s lives.
Dr. Leguard had a wonderful year with friends and family, and enjoyed travelling to Hawaii with her family, skied in Quebec with her girlfriends, and toured the south of France in the summertime with her boyfriend. She was especially proud of her two sisters, who had exciting career years. Dr. L also became a Rotarian this year.
Dr. Johnston’s youngest daughter started JK this year and their family had a wonderful trip to Tobermory and Sauble beach this summer. She also got to surprise her 6 year old and take her to Taylor Swift, The Eras Tour in Toronto.
Dr. Hubbel enjoyed time with family and taking care of his wonderful patients in our clinic. 2024 was an especially tough year for the Hubbel family, with the loss of Joan, Dr. Hubbel’s wife of nearly 66 years, in May. Many of you remember Joan as a kindergarten teacher, manager of our clinic, and for her kindness and humour. David, their son who lives in Cambodia, spent more time at home this year as a highlight. Dr. Hubbel is looking forward to his first big vacation in many years - a trip to the Hawaiian islands with his family.
A few clinic updates…
This year we are again collecting money for the Giving Tree. We have chosen 1 male and 1 female child to support this year. Our young boy is 10 years old and our little girl is 2 years old. Our staff always have a great time shopping and gathering things for these children. Thank you very much for all your support and donations for this initiative.
Holiday closures this year are a little longer than we have done in the past - the clinic will be closed from Wednesday December 25, 2024 until Monday January 6, 2025. We are excited for our team to enjoy a well earned break.
Dr. Johnston will be available for emergency care after the New Year. Dr. Leguard and Dr. Hubbel will be enjoying a vacation to the Hawaiian Islands of Maui, Kauai, and O’ahu over the break and will return to patient care on January 13th. We wish them all the best and are very excited to see updated photos of Dr. Hubbel surfing in his new Hawaiian garb.
In true holiday fashion, we’ll leave you with a holiday poem, courtesy of Dr. Hubbel:
T’was the day before Christmas but there was no cheer.
No jingle bells jingled, no sound of reindeer.
The word had gotten out that Santa was sick.
There’d be no friendly visit from jolly St. Nick.
The people were sad; no gaiety sounded.
For Christmas had come, but Santa was grounded.
He limped down the street wondering what should he do?
When the sign said D.C., it was too good to be true.
Now Santa was not one to like a new tactic,
but all else had failed: So he’d try Chiropractic.
He entered the clinic and saw at a glance,
In a place such as this, illness hasn’t a chance.
The people were smiling, the music was snappy.
With all of the patients contented and happy.
In a very short time, to judge by the clock,
He was in the adjustment room talking to “Doc”.
“Oh, Doc take a look at the size of this pack!
Have you any idea what it does to my back?”
Poor Santa was miserable, just barely able,
with the help of the doctor, to get onto the table.
The doctor was gentle, without fuss or tussle.
She examined the vertebrae and relaxed every muscle.
She spotted the trouble and then with a click,
She started aligning the spine of St. Nick.
In no time at all, he felt no aches or pains.
He picked up his pack and grabbed the reins.
The air was a’tingle with new fallen snow,
And healthy Kris Kringle was rarin’ to go.
(Editor’s note: If your Santa needs help, please tell him where to go!)
Happy Holidays from all of us at Hubbel & Johnston Chiropractic!
