May 2023 - Updates

After our April showers, it’s time for some dry heat and May flowers (more on this later)! Our office will be closed only on Monday, May 22nd for Victoria day.

Louise’s acting debut as Sister Dorthea in the Victorian Operetta Society’s presentation of the Sound of Music at Victoria Hall all went off without a hitch!

Our June MudGirl race at Dagmar ski resort is approaching quickly:  Last year was our first year. Watch out for a donation jar (all proceeds going towards Breast Cancer research) and voting on who you think will get the muddiest,  who will be the most enthusiastic, and who will have the biggest wipeout? Who’s strength will surprise you? Who will complain the least? Most? Curse the most? Have the most team spirit? Who will get the most sunburnt?

If you have been a patient in our clinic for a few years, you will remember Ainsley and Chloe Leguard, Dr. Hubbel’s granddaughters and Dr. Leguard’s younger sisters. Ainsley and Chloe worked at our clinic the summer of 2021, and both have exciting updates:

Chloe has graduated from her undergraduate degree in Economics and Accounting at Western University. In her time at Western, Chloe was elected Vice President of Finance and Governance of her university’s Student’s Council, was an Orientation Leader, a tutor, and a resume advisor. After much deliberation, Chloe decided to accept her offer to Western University’s law school this fall, where we are sure that her accounting expertise will “wow” her future tax law professors. Chloe will be returning home for another great summer of serving on the patio at the Mill Restaurant & Pub, but first will be going on a Caribbean “graduation cruise” with three good friends.

Ainsley has officially finished her time in law school at Western University and will write the bar exam (the final licensing exam to become a lawyer) in June of this year. In her time at Western Law, she was the Editor and Chief of the Western Law Journal. She will then article at Osler Hoskin & Harcourt, a seven sisters law firm in downtown Toronto, starting in September, with a special interest in litigation and advocacy . Ainsley was also recently selected to clerk at the Federal Court of Appeal, and will begin her Clerkship in 2024 working in Ottawa. After writing the bar exam, Ainsley will spend a few weeks with friends traveling through Europe before moving to her Toronto apartment.

Dr. Leguard’s knee is getting better and better every day. She needed to add a few more hours to her schedule to accommodate her patients; she is now seeing patients Tuesday afternoons again (she feels thankful to be needed!).
